Life is being on the wire, everything else is just waiting

Karl Wallenda Crossing the Thames
Karl Wallenda said "Being on the tightrope is living; everything else is waiting." And so he lived. Wallenda was born into a circus family on this date in 1905, and was already performing when he was six years old. In his signature act, he stacked several chairs and did a handstand on the top one. He started his own high-wire act in the 1920s; it eventually grew into The Flying Wallendas, noted for their four- and seven-person pyramids balanced on the tightrope.
The Wallendas never used a net. Karl Wallenda fell to his death from a 37-meter (40.5-yard) high wire strung between two towers in San Juan. He was 73.
